Student Government Explained

Just like many schools around the world, Blake High School has a student government. This is basically a group of students who are elected or appointed to help plan events or organize functions for the students. There are several positions that each grade is able to run for. Here is a description of each:

President

  • The president usually runs and plans meetings, keeps other members accountable, as well as hands out tasks

Vice President

  • The vice president assists the president and runs the student government when it is necessary

Secretary

  • The secretary takes notes on all meetings and relays them to everyone, so people know what is going on

Treasurer

  • The treasurer manages money and prepares budgets

Historian

  • The historian takes pictures and keeps a track record of all events that take place

Student government is a good way to get students involved as well as make new students feel comfortable. Planning events for the student body is a fun way for everyone to feel included and have a good time. So, when you can, try to get involved in SGA as well as the planned events.
