September 6, 2017
Hurricane Harvey swept the nation the past week, and had devastating affects to the United States. Texas was hit the hardest, as the state was literally flooded by this Category 4 hurricane.
What is Hurricane Harvey?
Hurricane Harvey is a major Hurricane that made landfall in the United States, the biggest since Hurricane Wilma in 2005. At first, around August 19, it was dissipating from being a tropical storm. Later throughout the week, it intensified over the Gulf of Mexico and first made landfall onto Texas on August 24th.
What happened in Texas?
The devastation of Hurricane Harvey was immense. School classes were cancelled, business have been destroyed, and people had fled their homes with just bags of clothes, important documents, and keepsakes. United Airlines even shut down at Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport. Harvey is set to join Hurricane Katrina as one of the costliest natural disasters in the U.S., thanks to flood damage.
