Although last Friday’s pre-game wasn’t what anyone expected, it was certainly an interesting way to start the season. Surprisingly, in the first quarter it began to rain. Despite the twist of events, the game went on. Both teams came ready to play, yet only one could win the first game of 2018

Durant High School was our rival during this game. Interestingly, Blake isn’t a stranger to Durant’s football team. In fact, during last year’s pre-game we lost to the cougars. This means that redemption was on the line for Blake’s football players. The game began with a toss of a coin and ball thrown by Blake’s very own yellow jackets.

It seemed glum with 4 minutes left in the 1st quarter with the loud sound of thunder rumbling over the football filed putting the crowd on edge. A lightning bolt striked as the rain began to pour over the players and crowd. The whistles singling it was time to take a 30 minute break and head under safe ground to await the end of the lightning so the teams could continue on with their pre-game.

During the game, Blake saw some incredible plays. Edward Walker, quarterback, ran a touchdown in. He also assisted Za’gary Moore and Ja’quez Riggins on their touchdowns. Edward Walker was like an Einstein of the field, he assisted 2 of the three touchdowns, the third he did on his own, that brought a victory to the Blake yellow jackets. “I felt like Tom Brady out there,” said Walker. He said that it felt good to get those touchdowns and that he strives to do even better during the season.

This pre-game ended with a successful win on Blake’s part that set the cougars back into their cage. The upcoming 1st game of the season appears to have good vibes surrounding it. Let’s go yellow jackets!
