My favorite social media app has to be YouTube. I like it because it’s a chance for people to share their creativity and learn new things, and they can especially gain a new perspective! It also can bring people together and introduce concepts like critical thinking. Many people, like myself, have grown up on YouTube. It really was the first big social media app.
YouTube is designed for people to share their ideas with others. Different types of content is shared around all the time: Commentary, reactions, gaming, analysis of film/tv, and so much more. These videos bring in great discussions and interactions, leading people to things they never thought of. Early YouTubers like Smosh or Jenna marbles would post random lip sync content. The content now, however, has shifted to commentary/reactions.
The future of social media seems to be heading in the direction of being similar to TikTok. YouTube introduced YouTube Shorts, a recreation of the TikTok format. While it’s not as popular, more company’s want to have success like TikTok. YouTube has it but they want to maintain it. Overall, YouTube is a great app that continues to inspire generations.
