Blake vs. Alonso

Kicking off the season hot with Alonso winning 73-8 over Freedom and Blake winning 72-0 over Leto – both teams had high expectations going into their week 2 matchup against each other. Both teams started off the game strongly, and at the end of the 1st quarter, Blake held a 12-6 lead. However, in the 2nd and 3rd quarters, Alonso would go on to score 34 unanswered points before Blake would go on to add 6 points in the 4th with a final score of 40-18.

Alonso was led offensively by Sophomore Running Back Josh Andrews who rushed for 247 yards on 20 carries with 4 touchdowns. Defensively they were led by Senior Linebacker Gavin Hughes who led the team with 13 total tackles and 3 sacks. Despite the loss, Blake still had some positives to build on Sophomore RB Quentin Deboue, Junior RB Deshaun Neal, and Senior QB Henry Kanu all ran for 1 rushing TD. Deshaun Neal also led the team in tackles with 10 as well as 1 int and 1 fumble recovery.

After their week 2 matchups, both teams have gone undefeated with Alonso beating opponents Spoto 27-8, Sickles 17-14, and Leto 51-7. Blake would go on to beat Brandon 51-8, Middleton 14-6, and Freedom 28-12. With Alonso at (5-0) and Blake at (4-1) at the midpoint of the season, both teams hope to have a strong second half of the season so they can both make deep playoff runs.
