Has Blake been over capacity over the years?  This school year, 2018-2019, is 106%, which makes it over capacity! If you have been in a crowded classroom, you might have started to wonder what are the pros and cons about the school being over capacity.

Blake High School has been at full capacity over the years but this school year Blake has a total of 1,700 students enrolled, the increase of students has rapidly grew. The big question is how do teachers, AP’s, and Principal Salters, overall deal with the numerous amount of students here?

Many Yellow Jacket teachers have a total of at least 40 students in each class, making it the double of how many students they should have had. It has been a challenge for these teachers to handle all students per class period all in one. Teachers sometimes will run out of paper quickly and will not have the sufficient amount for another class period, they have been making students write on their own paper because of the situation going on. Teachers don’t even have enough time to put up a grade for every single student that they teach, it has not been easy putting grades in for all students in time also, some students don’t even have a grade yet since the first day of school. Teachers have many other roles for students when teaching but with the school being at full capacity it has made things slower for teachers to do.
The AP’s at Blake have been going through the struggle too, AP’s are like therapists handling any student problems and helping them care about their education. They have been the ones making every student at Blake a schedule that is best for them. After the first week of school they have been getting countless amount of schedule changes making it even harder for them to do all at once because of the many amount of students. Their work has also been doubled and slower.
