Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights
Halloween Horror Nights 2018 had many terrors to offer this year with a total of 10 haunted houses. The three main houses being Stranger Things, Halloween 4, and the Poltergeist. This gave the event an overall theme of the 80’s. Many scare zones were based around the decade’s movies and the aesthetic. The biggest scare zone was Vamp 85’, which was a New Year’s Eve party gone horribly wrong and horribly bloody. In this case bigger meant better. The Scare actors were covered head to toe in 80’s décor including a terrifying perm and oversized shoulder pads. Madonna played in the background as the screams of the guests could be heard all over the park. The only way to escape was to walk through the massive wave of freights.
After walking through the partying blood suckers, you eventually make your way to the Halloween 4 house with a wait time of 40 minutes. The wait murders your feet but not as much as Michael Myers murders his victims. As you walk through the house you hear the iconic Halloween theme song playing in your ear. It builds up your anxiety until finally Myers jumps out at you with a knife. While you’re shakily walking through his house you see many scare actors dressed as Michael swinging at you with knifes, getting shot by angry civilians, and hiding away in the forest, waiting for you to walk by so he can make the kill. This house was definitely worth the wait. I walked in there with droopy tired eyes and left with my eyes stuck open frozen in fear.
The overall Halloween Horror Nights experience was terrifyingly amazing. The 4/10 houses I went to had me sweating in fear and running off of adrenaline. The production for the event was clearly well thought about and took some time to create and I appreciated every bit of it. The $80 price for the ticket was for sure worth it and I recommend making a stop at Universal This October.
