This can’t stay in Vegas

A country festival corrupted by the sounds of gunfire, and the loss of lives.

One of the many victims in this week’s shooting. A couple one the ground, fearing for their lives. They heard gun fire, and immediately got up and ran.

What occurred?

At the Route 91 Harvest Country Music Festival, a man named Stephen Paddock opened fire, killing 58 people and injuring more than 500. Police said late Monday they recovered 23 firearms from Paddock’s hotel room. Weapons found were both .308 and .223 caliber, Fox News has learned.

Jason Aldean, who is a country singer, had just started to perform. More than 20,000 people attended the concert. The shooter started from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino. When Police broke into the shooter’s room, his body and various guns were found on the floor, evidence of a carefully thought attack.

“Paddock aroused no suspicion from hotel staff even as he brought in 23 guns, some of them with scopes. One of the weapons he apparently used in the attack was an AK-47 type rifle, with a stand used to steady it for firing,” one MSN article states.

Stephen Paddock was just a “normal” guy, as his siblings say. Two weeks prior to the shooting, he checked on his mother to see how she fared through Hurricane Irma. Some described Paddock’s actions as “just not right”, while coming to the conclusion that he must’ve had a deep, internal motive for going on a suicide shooting. Eric Paddock commented on the situation, saying, “Something just incredibly wrong just happened to my brother,” since he strongly believes this kind of behavior from him appears abnormal.

What are Nevada’s gun laws?

Gun laws have been a big issue. All throughout the early twenty-first century, gun violence has been a big issue.
Gun control was a huge debate in the 2012 and 2016 election, with many siding with Hillary Clinton just because of her plans against gun violence. Ever since the 2016 election, gun violence hasn’t seemed to go down, sparking further debates about individual states laws on carrying and using firearms. For example, Nevada’s laws are different from most laws in other states, and critics say they are too lenient.

Nevada’s laws state the following:

  • You don’t need a permit to purchase or possess a fire arm.
  • The state doesn’t require you to register either!
  • Open carrying of firearms is legal.

Over 500 concert-goers were injured on Sunday and many need blood.
