Scooter Braun a Bad Manager?

Scooter Braun a Bad Manager?

Scott Samuel “Scooter” Braun is a talent manager who works with many skilled artists. Braun, as any manager has regulations and company values for his clientele. It’s a way for management to run the show from behind the stage. Some of Braun’s company values are: Family is everything, Do things different and better, and Why be normal? I believe these values are the flaw in the system and that Bruan’s way of running things are the worst. Here’s why:

#1: Yes, family is everything, but treating your clients like family can have a negative effect. When you treat your clients like family, you give them more leeway then needed. Two of his top clients, Ariana Grande and Justin Bieber are both living proof that his “family” tactic isn’t the best. Grande and Bieber started off well in 2008 but are now heading down a rocky path. According to ScooterBraun.com, “Scooter Braun Projects is a talent management company that is more than just a company. It is a family.”

#2: He encourages his clients to be different and better than everyone else, but this gives his clients a narcissistic mindset. Ariana Grande proves this in quite a few of her songs. One example of this is her song “7 Rings”. The song explains how wealthy she is and how she buys everything she wants because she is just that much better than anyone else. One line from the song says ” You like my hair? Gee, thanks, just bought it. I see it, I like it, I want it, I got it Yeah”.

#3: Braun encourages his clients to be abnormal. While in most cases this can be good, in this situation being abnormal can be risky. A positive of being abnormal is that  you are being unique. A few negatives are that  you end up licking doughnuts off of the display trays (Grande) or getting kicked out of China for bad behavior (Bieber). Everyone should be unique and their selves but not everyone should be taking their abnormality to the extremes.
