2022 Masters: Tiger Woods’ Returns

With the 86th Masters on the horizon, the most important question on everyone’s mind is: Who do you think will win at Augusta National? From Thursday’s first-round onward, the first major of 2022 should be an incredible ride, involving the majority of the finest professionals and a couple of the best amateurs in the world. The Masters is as wide open as it has ever been in recent memory. There are no favorites in the single digits this time around, and no one has emerged as the player to beat over 72 holes.

Technically, Jon Rahm (10-1) and Justin Thomas (12-1) are the favorites, since they lead the Caesars Sportsbook odds board. Both have long and illustrious careers at Augusta National, but both have yet to win the green jacket. Cameron Smith and Scottie Scheffler, two of the world’s hottest players, are both strong contenders, but hardly heavyweight favorites at Augusta. In contrast, several of the world’s best athletes have yet to win in 2022, and several of them have a shady history with this track.

Then, there’s Tiger Woods’ comeback. What do you do with a five-time Masters champion who hasn’t competed in an official event in 17 months, yet may know the course better than anyone else? Woods has confirmed that he will tee it up alongside Louis Oosthuizen and Joaquin Niemann on Thursday morning, and the stakes for him could be higher than anybody else in the tournament. This surprised many, as he almost lost his legs in February in a terrible one-car accident. However, the fact that he is back shows his resilience as a player and has only helped advance his growing reputation as one of if not the greatest to ever play golf.

Taking all of this into account, it looks like we’re in for a wild Masters week with lots of unexpected twists and turns and several prominent names at the top of the leaderboard. As a result, you won’t want to miss a single second of the action. The event begins Thursday, April 7th, and will end Saturday, April 10th.
